Methods & disclaimer

We don't authenticate items. Educational info with sources only.

What we are

COA Guide is an educational reference about who issues autograph Certificates of Authenticity. We don't examine items, issue opinions on signatures, rate authenticators, or say whether any item or seller is genuine.

How we source facts

  • Every factual statement links to a source, preferably the company's own site, court records, government releases, or established news outlets.
  • If we can't find a reliable source, we say "We couldn't find a reliable source for this yet." rather than guess.
  • Company self-descriptions are labeled as such ("says", "describes itself as").
  • Each page shows when it was last researched.

Lookup status checks

The status widget records whether each official lookup page returned an HTTP response to an automated request at the time shown. A responding page doesn't mean lookups return correct results. The check runs about once a day. Results are "Responding", "Down" (an error or a maintenance page), "Check blocked" (the site refused automated requests, so we can't tell either way) or "Not responding" (no answer before timeout). Beckett's outage note and its sources stay up until Beckett's own lookup page responds again.

Corrections

If you think something on this site is wrong or out of date, please tell us. We'd rather fix it than leave it up.

  1. Email hello@coaguide.com with "Correction" in the subject line.
  2. Include the page address, the exact statement you think is wrong, and, if you can, a source that supports the correction (an official company page, court record or news report).
  3. We'll review it against the sources. If the page is wrong, we'll fix it and update the page's "last researched" date. Significant corrections are noted on the page.
  4. Companies listed on this site can use the same process to correct factual details about themselves. We don't remove accurate, sourced information on request, and we don't accept payment to change any profile.
